I'm having trouble using my .avi animation with the clip player of Lyric 4.0. I am rendering keyable lower thirds on my Mac and then bringing them into Lyric only to get the message: 'Clip must be more the 30 frames.' What's the deal? These are 10-15 sec clips. I've tried every render variable possible except rendering on a PC. Has anyone encountered this?

Hi natazer,
What clip player are you using? There is a Digisuite LE board and Digiserver. Each type uses different types of codecs. Since you are creating clips on a mac, you might want to create a series of .tga files and then bring them over to your duet, then render them to an .avi. We have a couple of utilities to convert those .tga files into an .avi file, using the correct codec for your clip player.

Hi Natazer
There is a matrox wondows codec that you must load on a PC only. When this is loaded you can then save Matrox AVI files from a PC in After Effects or any other program that can render animations. From a MAC, the only thing you can do is render targa files and then import them on the DUET using Digitools if the clip player is a Digisuite clip player or using the Chyron TGA to AVI Converter utility if it is a Digiserver clip player. I or Elizabeth from Chyron can send you some documents on how to set this up.

Don't forget that for either the DigiSuite or DigiServer boards you'll have to render a separate alpha channel avi. These boards don't support embedded alphas. If you're using a PC to render out of AfterEffects, render it once as RGB only then again as alpha only, and give the alpha avi file the extension ".matte.avi."
The Chyron TGA to AVI converter (ftp://ftp.chyron.com/pub/software/Lyric/Test/Chyron%20TGA%20to%20AVI%20Converter11092004.ZIP)
will render out the alpha channel as a separate avi file for you automatically. If you're working with a Mac, this is really the best way to go.

I got a similar error when my rgb clip was 00:15:00 long and my alpha was one frame shorter at 00:14:29 make sure they are the exact same length.
