Maya 3D object

I've been trying to get an object from Maya into Lyric. The 3D artist was able to send it to me as an OBJ file, but I didn't get the textures along with the object. He tells me that Maya can't export as as 3DS, which is the format i've seen that comes with textures. Is there any other way to get an object and it's textures into Lyric from Maya?

I am also interested in an answer to this question. I too can import an OBJ file. Then I can add colors to the different pieces of the OBJ, but without the original textures, it just looks too cartoon like and I would never use it on air.

Any help with Maya into Lyric?

My 3D artist sent me the art file with the .obj extension and also a materials file with an .mtl extension.

I put both files into my 3D folder and Lyric opened the object with the correct colors and such.
