Wondering what the best way is to import a logo or other graphic that has a single layer? The only way I can import right now is putting the logo on a background, which then flattens the graphic and imports both layers. Right now I only want the logo, which I'm having trouble getting.

thanks.

Have you done an "import graphic"? Make sure you are in Windowed mode so you can move the graphic around freely. (Go to Config, Preferences and choose Windowed.)

Hope this helps! Let me know.

It also depends on what file format you're using. If you're using a layered Photoshop file, when you do the import (Tools>Graphic), de-select "Merge Layers". This will import the graphic layers separately.

If you're using a Targa file, make sure it has an alpha channel and it should import fine.

Thanks Elizabeth and Greg for the speedy replies. Unfortunately neither suggestion worked for me. Any other ideas? Elizabeth, I am in "windowed" mode, and still am having problems importing the logo. Greg, I didn't see the "merge layers" option. I'm sure what I'm trying to do is pretty simple, but unfortunately I'm having zero luck- probably doesn't help that I'm pretty new working on the system and am more of a production guy than graphics. If either of you have a "master formula" for taking a file from Photoshop into Lyric I would be interested in hearing what it is. I've tried every formula- tiff, targas, psp, picts, with an assortment of layers, alphas...etc, and still can't get a logo to import without a background. Thanks again for any and all help.

I guess I have to ask what version of Lyric you're using. If it's 5.0 & higher, you can import PSD layers individually.

There is a knowledgebase entry on this subject. Go to http://kb.chyron.com and search "Photoshop". This will take you through the steps for importing Photoshop files.

Also make sure your graphic is 32 bit true color, and the machine with Lyric on it is set for 32bit true color in the display settings.

Elizabeth and Greg,

Thanks again for all of your help. I finally figured it out...I don't know if this is the best way, but if I save the image as a TIFF the transparency is preserved. Doesn't seem to work with TARGA or PSP files, but it likes the TIFFs. BTW, we have Lyric 4.3, thus some of the tips you two were feeding me might not be applicable. Thanks again though for thespeedy responses- it's much appreciated, and I'm sure I'll be back since I'm more of a production guy, and still have a ways to go w/this Chyron thingy ;)

If you're using 4.13, it does not support importing the Photoshop layers individually. Glad to help...
