On several systems, I have encountered HyperX machines with an incorrect video setting that impacts performance. It's possible that the nVidia card is resetting when drivers are updated, but either way, it's a worthwhile thing to check on systems you may encounter in the field.
On the DESKTOP, right-click and choose NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL
Go to the ADVANCED VIEW
Choose MANAGE 3D SETTINGS
For the setting MULTI-DISPLAY/MIXED-GPU ACCELERATION, be sure that you're set to SINGLE DISPLAY PERFORMANCE MODE.
On the DESKTOP, right-click and choose NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL
