Serialization changes and Lyric Message Compatibility...
Lyric messages are almost always forwards compatible, meaning that messages created in one version will open in later versions, e.g. *.lyr files created or re-recorded in 5.25 will open in 6.xx or 7.xx.
In general, a message is only backwards compatible when only the second digit after the 'dot' has changed, e.g. an *.lyr file created in 5.25 will open in 5.24 or 5.21, but it will most likely NOT open in 5.0.
Lyric messages are NOT backwards compatible beyond the aforementioned example. Lyric messages created or re-recorded in 6.5 will NOT recall in 5.xx. Messages created in 7.xx will NOT recall in 6.xx.
It is also worth noting that there is a serialization change between 7.0 and 7.1, meaning that messages re-recorded in 7.1 will NOT recall in 7.0; instead an "Unexpected File Format," or UFF, error will be returned.
