Linking updating template text between messages

Hello again, I have another question for our sports productions.

I was wondering if there was some way to make Lyric automatically update the Excel database a message is DBlinked with when that message's text is changed and recorded. Or if there's another way to make the same text in one graphic appear in another, I'm all ears.

The main thing I wanted to use this ability with is to make the scores on our foxbox graphic (which we update with macros to add 1, 2, or 3 points) linked with our large lower third score graphic, so we can get it out as we go into commercial. Right now, we have to manually punch in the scores as well as the time, and can't get it out in time. Making those scores automatic would definitely make what we want to achieve far more realistic.

If you're using Lyric PRO, in the EVENTS tab on the PROPERTIES window, there is a playback event for "Update DBLink." You could add that to an even node and loop that node to refresh every second or so.

Does the Update DBLink event alter the excel file with what you record in the message(s)?

No... it's a one-way read only from the ODBC file only.

There is no way to push from the Chyron to the data source. It's only a pull. You need a way to get data from the source to the ODBC file.

It's a little messy, but you can always make it so that macro also updates and saves the lower third without sending it live.
