1) Regarding the MOV playback in Lyric, I am reporting the issue to our engineering department. I hope to duplicate the issue here. If I cannot, I may ask for a copy of your MOV.
2) Regarding the limit on MOV files: yes, *strongly suggest* limits on movie objects. The MOV files impact performance on the canvas. We recommend that larger files (perhaps more than half the screen) and longer files (over 30 seconds) be played back via the internal clip player as LTV. This should be considered a "sliding scale." For example, if you want to use a fullscreen MOV as a wipe, that will probably be okay if it's only a couple of seconds. If you want to use a long movie file, the smaller the better. 3) Please give the me the serial number on your machine, so that I can check your licensing for clip players. Also, what version AND build of Lyric are you running? Thanks! Marty

Glad to see you again here
![]() 1) Thanks! 2) That's almost clear now. Thanks. I just need final clarifications.
3) Ok. The one that is currently live on broadcast and the one I torture most of the time is:
The newest which I saw today for the first time is
Lyric offline I use is

1) You're most welcome.
2) Here ya go... --a) You're correct. Larger, longer files (backgrounds, etc) should be LTV and played via the eFX panel "Timeline Add." Try to avoid the "clip control panel." The eFX panel is better and more flexible. LTV does not touch the GPU and doesn't affect performance in the way the MOV/AVI files do on the canvas. --b) *Technically* no. BUT since I am sneaky, you could push the name of a desired clip to a hidden template field offscreen. Then you could have an embedded macro in the message which reads the content of the template field and updates the clip file path from that. It would be something like this: sFile = ActiveCanvas.Scene.Template("Clip to Use").Text set clipNode = ActiveCanvas.Scene.Element("eFX Clip") 'or whatever the node name of the clip is set elem = clipNode.Element(0) set dispatch = elem.RetrieveDispatchMap dispatch.SetProxyValue "data.video.file", sFile dispatch.SetProxyValue "data.key.file", sFile dispatch.openProxy set dispatch = nothing **I am not a macro writer** This may require help from someone else. --c) Yes, clip player ONLY accepts LTV. Movie Object ONLY accepts MOV/AVI. --d) There is no duration limit to the LTV clip, except of course if you fill up the drive. One of my clients accidentally recorded a 12-hour long LTV. 3) I am investigating your serial numbers. However, my first recommendation is that you have 8.0.RU2 installed on ALL the devices so that they match, otherwise you will have problems. Also, you should use eFX 1.9.245 to ensure cross compatibility of clips between eFX (HyperX3) and eFX2 (HyperX3.1) systems. I will send you a private message on where and how to download these files.

Two more crusial questions for you while you're investigating the serials.
1) What OS do you suggest to use with Lyric 8.0 RU2? I'm sure I must not use 64 bit. But what is more preferable, table WinXP or Win7? UPD: I just saw that the brand new HyperX 3.1 runs on WinXP SP3, so no questions. OS is chosen. 2) Can my Lyric OFFLINE be licensed to be able to playback clips? If not, then I cannot guess how it's possible to create messages with LTV files inside, because I can't even add it to timeline. It returns error about clip playback not licensed by dongle. And I don't see offline machine having any serials and I doubt it's machine dependent. Last edited by Mikhail; 10-20-2011 at 02:46 AM. Reason: +question, -1 question |

1) You're correct, for the actualy Chyron machines, keep them on XP sp3.
2) The only thing that offline cannot do is clips. You see, the LTV files are dependent upon the eFX (Leitch Altitude) board and cannot be loaded, viewed or manipulated on an offline system. Unfortunately, it is what it is.
